Harvey Govender

We are really pleased to introduce Harvey, who will be joining our team on Monday 20th June. Harvey was born in South Africa and completed his medical training in Johannesburg.

He immigrated to NZ with his family in 1995, and has a son and daughter who are now adults. Until recently, Harvey worked as a GP in Hillcrest Medical Centre for 26 years. He obtained the Diploma of Skin Cancer Surgery from Healthcert in Australia and is currently working towards the diploma in dermoscopy.

With the high rates of skin cancer/melanoma in New Zealand, he feels strongly about early detection and treatment of skin cancer.

Harvey is married to Lyn who works as a marketing manager for a large food company. They are both keen fitness enthusiasts and they share a joint passion for competitive ballroom dancing.

Welcome Harvey, you will be a great addition to our team

The history behind Hamilton Skin Cancer Centre

The skin cancer clinics at Hamilton East Medical Centre had proven very popular and beneficial to patients. Over time these services outgrew their general practice home, resulting in the Hamilton Skin Cancer Centre being formed. This enabled all the services to be housed together under one roof.

The Hamilton Skin Cancer Centre was launched in August 2018 and opened in December 2018 with major renovations in April 2021.

Hamilton Skin Cancer Centre is adjacent to Hamilton East Medical Centre. They are a short walk apart and have shared parking facilities.

All patients are welcome and no referral is needed to be seen by our team.
